2020 WINNER Best Documentary Series, Environmental Media Awards “Activate: Ending Plastic Pollution”
"Activate: The Global Citizen Movement" is a six-part multi-platform documentary series. Each episode delves into a different issue connected to the root causes of extreme poverty. This episode on ending plastic pollution features actor Darren Criss traveling to the Philippines to see the impact of plastic pollution first hand, while coastal communities struggle to make ends meet.
2018 -2019 Collaborative Studio Fellow, Union Docs Center for Documentary Art
The UnionDocs Collaborative Studio (CoLAB) is a 10 month program for a select group of media artists from the US and abroad. Based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, CoLAB offers a platform for exploring contemporary approaches to the documentary arts and a process for developing an innovative collaborative project. Jordan was selected from hundreds of applicants to participate in the fellowship this year. For this fellowship she directed a film called “Spiritual First Aid” about the MTA Chaplains Office, a group of interfaith volunteer first responders who counsel MTA employees suffering from trauma.
RIAS Berlin Commission fall 2018 Fellowship
The RIAS Berlin Commission is a binational organization for the promotion of German-American understanding in the field of broadcasting. Since 1994 over 1200 American and German broadcast journalists have participated in this unique transatlantic exchange, building bridges of understanding — professionally and personally. Jordan was selected to be part of the fall 2018 program for American jounralists visiting Brussels, Cologne, Mainz, and Berlin. Our alumni become part of a vibrant network by hosting visiting German journalists at their stations in the U.S., attending alumni meetings, and collaborating on stories that impact German American relations.
National Educational Telecommunications Association
Jordan’s creation of the tutorial series “Level Up” for the PBS NewsHour’s Student Reporting Labs won her an award for Best Instructional Media in a Large Market in January 2018. The series aims to break down complex filmmaking and reporting concepts for classrooms nation wide.
Stone Soups “Doc in a Day” Film Festival
Twice a year, 5 teams of filmmakers spend the weekend producing 5 documentaries for DC area nonprofits. These films are invaluable to the organizations, enabling them to apply for grants and to tell their stories in a clear and concise way. Jordan’s story featuring the work of the non profit Food Rescue US won her the $1000 Grand Prize in fall of 2017.
U.S. Department of State - American Forum for Global Education Scholarship Recipient 2005
Jordan was chosen to represent America on a year long international youth program aimed at promoting cultural and religious understanding between the United States and Turkey in the wake of the September 11th attacks in New York.
